People are not possessions.
They do not belong to each other.
They are like leaves in the wind.
They touch and part as the
capricious spirit moves them.
They touch but for a moment…
then fly into a voluptuous void
of nostalgia and remembering.
It remains the vivid moment
of perception that matters.
Possessing cannot endure in this
domain of relentless betrayal
and long smoldering decay.
Though the lover escapes,
the richness of love lingers.
